As somebody who’s suffered from alopecia starting kind of early on (19 or so my hair started thinning badly) I know how emotionally damaging it can be. I don’t think many people think about how awful it is to be so young and then, BOOM – it’s like your life is over.

Okay, that’s a bit dramatic but it’s definitely how I felt. I don’t believe there’s enough money granted or invested into the science behind the various types of hair loss. Maybe that’s because most people feel there are much worse conditions that deserve a greater focus in the scientific community.

Regardless, I feel more should be done and so this website is my small contribution toward advancing solutions to the problem.

Hey everyone, my name is Laura. I’m not someone with hair loss, but my dad and other guys in my family have all had balding to one degree or another. 

I’ve never felt that losing one’s hair (especially as a guy) was all that terrible. But then, I never really had in-depth discussions with anyone about how balding made them feel. When I finally did have some of those conversations I was shocked that so many peoples’ self-esteem dropped so significantly when their hair started falling out.

I can’t stand it when there’s an issue that hurts someone, emotionally or physically.

Anyway, so then I started working with hairhealthcenter.com and I feel happy knowing that whatever contributions I’m making might help someone out there find a solution to a condition that makes them feel bad.
